  • Since 1986, Howard Park has focused on creating fine, long-lived Rieslings from the Great Southern. Careful, ongoing development of our Mount Barrow vineyard has now allowed us to refine the source of this wine to Mount Barker. The very best Riesling grapes and the use of free run juice produce a wine with pristine delicate characters, lively, zesty aromas and a fresh crisp palate of great length.

Riesling – a hero, but still misunderstood by too many. It’s amazing; it has many personalities; and it’s my favourite. Riesling is chameleon-like in the way it can change, adapt, and adopt different guises, depending on where and how it’s grown. It’s also fascinating in terms of the depth of scents, flavours and characteristics which it can display. This one is from the respected Howard Park, one of Western Australia’s leading stars. Smell it and wafts of freshly-grated lime zest, acacia honey, and meadow flowers rise from the glass. Then taste its tangy, zesty, mouthwatering flavours; bursting with zingy lime, and crunchy apple. Summery and refreshingly dry, this will be a hit with barbecued chicken and pork infused with Indian and Asian spices. Great with the freshest of Vietnamese noodle salads or Thai curries.

Angela MountBath Magazine

A ‘good appetiser, with its uncomplicated lemon sorbet fruit character’, said Xabier Alvarez of Trangallán, while team leader Simon Woods enjoyed its ‘ripe, plump, slightly saline style, long and crisp, but with richness too’.

This vineyard is planted on a south facing ridge-top with an elevation of between 285 to 370 m and a panorama that spans east to west where it is cooled by the breezes off the southern ocean. Each vineyard block is vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. After settling bright, the free run juice is racked before a long and cold fermentation to preserve delicate, varietal fruit flavours. Blending occurs in June of the vintage year, with the objective of showcasing the typicity of each site in the final wine.
