Product details

  • Variety

  • If you enjoy rich, full bodied, velvety red wine this is the one for you! The Papale Primitivo has flavours of rich dark chocolate, ripe cherries and spice. It's deep, dark and tempting, and is seriously seductive. The Papale is Puglian wine at its best with great character and warmth. Primitivo often has a spiciness and this is delicious in the Papale, but it wraps in up with complexity, lovely texture and a pure fruit intensity. Aromas of kirsch, plum and spicy oak. Ultra-silky on the palate, with layers of spice and ripe black cherry and blueberry fruits; plush and intense. Has good freshness right through to the finish.

Press ReviewPress

‘Generous and powerful, vibrant character with figs and plum, spicy meats and tannin with notes of lavender on the finish,’ said Damien Trinckquel of Galvin Brasserie de Luxe Edinburgh. ‘Tight fruit and big, yet elegant, with poise and structure,’ added team leader Sam Caporn MW.

Vanilla and cassis nose. Lovely notes of black fruit, spice and sweet oak throughout the palate. Quite long.

Maceration at a controlled temperature of 26 ° -28 ° C. After malolactic fermentation, aging in French and American oak barrels for at least 10 months.

Food recommendation

My suggestion is to slosh this around a decanter before enjoying with hearty dishes, such as oven baked meatballs, slow roast stews or rich roast meats.
