    Negroamaro del Salento, Varvaglione

    Negroamaro del Salento, Varvaglione 2013

"Just 12.5%, so a nice lunchtime bottle - with perfectly balanced spicy, wild berry and cherry fruit character. This is exactly what little known Italian reds should taste like, and an example of how Italy makes the most food friendly, best value wines anywhere in the world."

    Tasting Note:

Ruby red with shades of purple; the nose has fascinating scents of wild berries. The palate is marked by vanilla with a long lingering finish and a velvety texture.

Howard Park Mount Barker Riesling 2014

    Howard Park Mount Barker Riesling

Since 1986, Howard Park has focused on creating fine, long-lived Rieslings from the Great Southern. Careful, ongoing development of our Mount Barrow vineyard has now allowed us to refine the source of this wine to Mount Barker. The very best Riesling grapes and the use of free run juice produce a wine with pristine delicate characters, lively, zesty aromas and a fresh crisp palate of great length.

    Bogle Essential Red

    Bogle Essential Red

Very vibrant, almost beetroot red in colour. Hugely intense aromas of damson and plum, with bitter chocolate and black cherry. Underlying a wonderful spicy zinfandel character that comes through.

The palate is absolutely packed with red berry fruits, redcurrants and redberries. This has a lighter touch than some of the other Bogle wines, but deliciously lively and moreish with super-soft velvety tannins and zesty-fresh acidity. Incredibly approachable red that is great on it's own, but I can see this going with late summer BBQs and richer pork or lamb dishes. Drink over the next couple of years.

The Lucky Lizard Chardonnay, Hillbillies, d'Arenberg 2013

    d'Arenberg Lucky Lizard

Vibrant nectarine and white peach on the nose with nutty, mineral and citrus undertones. The palate begins with generous peach and stone fruit, which opens up to reveal a beautifully textured mid-palate with cashew and honeysuckle; finishing with zingy lime peel.

Heartland Dolcetto Lagrein Langhorne Creek 2013

Heartland Dolcetto Lagrein Langhorne Creek 2013

The ripe tannin structure and bright acidity of Lagrein balance out the voluptuous and fruit driven Dolcetto. Deep, glass-coating ruby in colour. Aromas of blackberry, liquorice and nutmeg combine with a smoothly textured palate of dark fruit, a bouquet garni of herbs and spices and a long savoury finish.
