Product details

  • Variety

  • Chateau de Valois was formed in 1862 after the break up of Ch. Figeac, though it only took this name in 1886. The vineyards consist of seven parcels on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau, the largest of which is just 4ha. The Chateau is owned by the Leydet family, and recently won awards ranking it alongside the great Pomerol estates of La Conseillante and Vieux Ch. Certan. The wine is a traditional blend of Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc and is aged up to 20 months in oak barrels. A vibrant, spicy aromatic nose with ripe cassis and plum. Good deep dark ruby red. Spicy aromatic nose with ripe black fruit character. The palate is dominated by ripe berry fruit characteristics intermingled with spicy new oak. A good length with plenty of character.
