Smells of fresh, tart blackberries, blackcurrant, and rosemary. Bright and refreshing, light yet with grip, it finishes with tart fruit skin, faintly bitter, resinous herbal oiliness, and dark mushroom notes. There is a tale in the terroir here that helps explain the wine’s character: Château du Donjon in Minervois has these (surprisingly) young vines planted in a cool, western exposure, facing the Cabardes region, whose wines feature both the Bordelaise and Rhône varieties
