  • Variety

  • Scrumptious nose of baked Bramley apples, spiced with a hint of star anise. Nuances of cream and bread dough. Greengage fruit and honey on the palate; a touch of fresh herbs, and more than a suggestion of minerality. Excellent balance between brisk acidity and creamy texture.

This is a really terrific 'grower' Champagne that is more than a match for more expensive, famous, brands.

Impressive fizz from a small producer. Toasty and yeasty with refreshing raspberry and citrus top notes. Roll on 14 February!

Susy AtkinsDelicious Magazine - February 2016

I've chosen Gobillard Brut Grande Reserve Premier as my star Champagne for this year. It ticks all the boxes- a family owned producer, who owns vineyards in one of the very best areas of Champagne, but instead of selling their grapes or wine to the big brands, produces their own; more importantly for us, the wine is fabulous and has its own personality. With 50% Chardonnay in the blend, it's a creamy, elegant delight, and recent winner of a coveted silver medal at the International Wine Challenge, the world's largest wine competition. Ethereal, lively and beguiling, there are gorgeous scents of toasted hazelnuts, freshly baked brioche, and delightfully smooth, baked apple flavours, with a lively citrus edge. It knocks spots off many of the big brands, with its charm and satisfying flavours, and certainly stands out from the crowd of big brands.

Angela MountBath Chronicle

A fresh, and compellingly good, grower Champagne, excellent value for money, with complex, rich toasty, yeasty notes and a proper raspberry tang from a good dollop of pinot grapes.

Susy Atkins

This cuvée is made with premier cru grapes mainly from the commune of Hautvillers, but with some blending with premier crus in Cumières and Dizy. Around 30% of the wine is made from reserve wines, adding complexity and uniformity across vintages. It is aged for three years in the cellars on the lees to add roundness and yeast character. At disgorgement the wine is given a dosage 8g/l.
