Product details

Wallace is an ancestral name of winemaker Ben Glaetzer's mother - Judith, whose family hail from the old market town of Cupar in Fife, Scotland. Judith's Celtic ancestry is reflected in the three elements of the Wallace symbol - the Celtic cross, thistle and the Celtic knot pattern.

Grenache provides an intense strawberry lift with touches of cherry, minerals and spice. The Shiraz component provides structure to the wine and tightens the confectionary notes of the Grenache. There are some lovely bitter chocolate and mocha notes. Overall a pure, vibrant blend displaying surprising elegance and freshness. The Wallace is superb drinking now, personally I wouldn't cellar but you could.

Presented in a smart Glaetzer branded gift box.

    Expert reviews:
A pretty rendition of this blend. Floral, both blueberries and raspberries, and flush with jubey licorice and spice as it washes through the finish. Alcohol is well tucked into the fruit. Delicious.
    - James Halliday - 93/100, Australian Wine Companion 2016 Edition

A Shiraz and Grenache blend, the 2013 Wallace has a medium garnet - purple color and notes of kirsch, warm red currants and mulberries with suggestions of spice cake, orange peel and potpourri. Soft, generous and full bodied, it gives tons of red and black fruit preserves flavors and a spicy undercurrent, finishing long and with a refreshing lift.
    - Lisa Perotti - Brown - 90+/100, Wine Advocate, Issue# 219, June 30 2015

Inky purple. Powerful aromas of blueberry, blackberry, wood smoke and violet. Displays supple, open - knit flavors of smoky dark fruits, mocha and candied flowers, with a peppery element adding lift. Shows very good clarity for its richness, with a sweet floral pastille note carrying through the long, smoky, gently tannic finish.
    - Stephen Tanzer - 91/100, International Wine Cellar
