James HallidayAustralian Wine Companion 2011
Ben Glaetzer’s trademark glossy, but detailed winemaking ensures that this exuberantly fruity wine manages to stay on the right side of self indulgent. With soaring cassis notes, a lick of menthol and posher oak than one would imagine for its workmanlike price point, this is a glorious piece of work and a real treat for fans of both Heartland and also this grape. Decant it for even more pleasure and you could easily convince your pals that this is a twenty pound wine.

Winemaking
Styled to show minimal oak, more to show how Australian Cabernet should taste ? lifted, aromatic and vibrant.
The Cabernet fruit enjoyed spectacular ripening period in 2004 and was able to display intense cassis and berry fruit on the nose, fine tannin and ripeness without over extracting the ferment. It spent 6 days on skins before being pressed and completing fermentation in 2 and 3 year old French oak hogsheads.
Fruit Source: 100% from Wirrega Vineyard in the Limestone Coast and Angas Vineyard, Langhorne Creek. Both vineyards owned by Heartland Wines
