With the dreadful weather this week, why am I writing about a lovely, refreshing Rose wine, when it’s hardly been picnic or BBQ weather?! Simply because there’s so much more to pink wine than just Summer. I just love Rose wines with food, which surprises many people… with salmon, tuna, prawns and especially with spicy Asian dishes; it always works and brings out the flavours in the food and the wine. So trust me and try Rose with a few meals this week. The one I’ve chosen is from northern Spain, and the funky, graffiti style label epitomises the cool, hip area around Barcelona from where this wine comes. It’s a really crisp, vibrant pink wine, from the Garnacha grape, dry, and bursting with raspberry and cranberry fruits – aromatic, and one of the zestiest Roses I’ve tried recently. If you like your rose wines dry, this is the one for you, it has delicious succulent red berry fruits. Try it chilled, on its own, or with any of the dishes I’ve suggested above … I paired it with seared tuna, but if you are cooking swordfish or salmon, especially with a hint of spice, it will be a winner!
