Molise is the second-smallest region in Southern Italy, bordering Abruzzo, Lazio, Campagnia and Puglia. Its wines began to gain recognition in the 1980's with the creation of the Biferno and Pentro di Isernia DOCs. The Biferno is a Montepulciano and Aglianico blend, the former from the Adriatic coast and the latter from the warmer inland areas.

The wine is typical of the appelation, bold and powerful , with a real rustic warmth to it.
