Castellari Bergaglio

Gavi

The Castellari Bergaglio estate has grown nothing but the local Cortese grape since it was established in 1890, and with the aim to produce wines that truly represent the area. It is now run by the founder's great grandson, Marco, who has combined the family passion for the 10 hectares of vineyards, with experience gained from winemaking in many areas of the world.

The Fornaci is made from hillside vineyards in the Tassarolo region, whose name derives from the brick furnace that once stood there indicating the high clay content of the soil in the area. The wine is textbook Gavi – fresh tasting, with a full flavoured finish.

The Rovereto Gavi di Gavi is much more complex: the low yielding 80 year old vines in the Rovereto vineyard, are some of the oldest in the Gavi region, giving a much more intense, full flavoured wine.
