Château Montdoyen

Bergerac

Jean Paul Hembise bought this beautiful property of 40ha on a hillside in the heart of Monbazillac, close to the Dordogne river in 1997. Since then, no expense has been spared in restoring the cellars of the château and in purchasing the most up-to-date winemaking equipment, including pneumatic presses, stainless steel tanks and new barriques. A new cooling unit has also been fitted and low density plantings have been established, similar to those in nearby St Emilion.

Jean Paul has employed biodynamic practices in the vineyards and recruited top winemaker, Luc de Conti from Château Tour des Gendres to advise on winemaking. Luc works with the young resident winemaker Julien Auroux, previously of Château L’Eglise in Pomerol, to produce these great value wines.
