Domaine Champalou’s modern yet traditional winery is situated amongst the labyrinth of vines, poppies and farm tracks which constitute the stunning hilltop vineyards of Vouvray, looking down on the peaceful but much visited viticultural village below.

Didier and Catherine Champalou set up in Vouvray in 1985. They now have 16 hectares, and in a very short time they have earned a reputation for Chenin wines which are amongst the finest in the region. The vines are split between the Premières Côtes and the Arrières Côtes giving a neat balance of style, with the flint of the Arrières Côtes adding an attractive crispness to their naturally intense wines. Harvesting of low yields at optimum ripeness ensures consistently high quality. Didier and Catherine’s talented daughter Céline assists her father with the winemaking and is one of the region’s rising stars
