Domaine de la Pigeade exemplifies a light, fresh, vibrant Muscat, brimming with exotic fruits (Chilean papaya, peach, mandarin orange) as opposed to the traditional sticky, raisined, oxidised style.Thierry and Marina Vaute began making Muscat like this from the very beginning in 1996, because Thierry detests the traditional style - "I'd rather have a beer," he says. The Vautes' efforts have paid off - with gold medals awarded to the first vintage in Paris and rapidly growing public demand, despite the local outrage at such a scandalous break with tradition.
