Domaine La Roquète
Rhône
This classic Châteauneuf estate was bought by the Bruniers of Vieux Télégraphe in 1986 and investments in the winery and vineyard soon followed. The result is over thirty hectares of top Châteauneuf terroir with vines approaching full maturity, vinified in a modern winery. The wines are fruit-forward, complex expressions of the region. The white is a blend of Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc and Clairette with a savoury lick of oak. The main wine of the estate is the Domaine de la Roquète Rouge, which is predominantly Grenache, with an addition of Syrah and Mourvèdre, while the top wine, l’Accent is a brooding old vine cuvée only released in the best vintages. The 2005 was voted one of the top 50 red wines of the world by Wine Spectator.
