Feudi di San Gregorio’s 300 ha expanse of vineyards is situated in the rolling hills around the town of Sorbo Serpico, Irpinia, in Campania’s Apennine Mountains. The town itself has developed into a dynamic wine-growing centre, bustling with energy as Feudi di San Gregorio actively build on the rich local tradition of grape growing and vinification that has been passed down through generations of dedicated farmers and winemakers. Today, Feudi di San Gregorio is a symbol of the oenological renaissance in Italy, championing the rediscovery of indigenous Mediterranean varietals; during the mid eighties they extensively re-planted Campania’s greatest varietals Fiano, Greco, Falanghina and Aglianico. Continued development and investment has meant vast increases in quality and the international recognition of Feudi’s wines on the world stage. The force behind this development is derived from two key figures, Mirella Capaldo and Enzo Ercolino. Both from Irpinia, they share the same passion and understanding of the potential of Southern Italy. Their recent expansion into Puglia and Basilicata, working with the regional varieties of Primitivo, Verdeca and Aglianico, is indicative of this.
