Press ReviewPress

Simply stunning - a deceptively smooth, seductive charmer, with full-blooded, warming and enticing style, which should keep the ghosts and ghoulies at bay. This has to be one of the very best value Australian reds around, so snap it up quick. It’s made by legendary wine producer Ben Glaetzer, and just oozes velvety richness. Jam-packed with juicy, dark, ripe, luscious dark berry fruit, and as the name suggests, sprinkled with an edge of smooth spice, This glorious red won a coveted silver in this year’s International Wine Challenge and I’d challenge anyone to find a better Aussie red at this price. Hang on to a few bottles for Bonfire night too!

Angela MountBath Chronicle - October 2015

This wine won two trophies at last year’s The Great Australian Red competition in Adelaide. It took home the trophy for best Shiraz-dominant wine and also best wine AUD$20 and under. I was over the moon when I heard that it was going to be shipped to the UK. Only a handful of people have seen this wine so far and everyone is completely gob-smacked when they taste it and then find out the price. Ben Glaetzer is a brilliant winemaker but it really impresses me when he can turn on the full-beam-charm at this price. The name says it all – the tasting note is written on the label so I don’t have to repeat it. Buy this wine and tell me that Australia doesn’t make the greatest value red wines on earth.

Winemaking

The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are fermented separately with specific parcels included for their ability to offer greater complexity and character. Time in barrel permits a softening of the wine’s structure. It also offers a complex expression of the fruit and helps the exotic notes of spice to be discovered.
