Pago de los Capellanes
Ribera del Duero
Pago de los Capellanes, considered by some to be the modern face of premium Ribera del Duero, is located near the village of Pedrosa de Duero nestled deep in the heart of the Burgos region where some of the finest fruit can be found. The Rodero-Villa family begain to realise their dream back in the 1980's by converting the modest estate, then consisting of a mere 2000 vines, into the 100ha estate it is today to demonstrate their constant commitment to quality. All harvest yields are actively reduced to 5,000kg/ha, well below the permitted allowance of 7000 kg/ha. The vinyeards of Pago de los Capellanes are made up of 80% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot and the resulting wines are powerful and elegant with glossy texture, lively acidity and prevalent minerality due to the clay and limestone soils.
