Uruguay may not be your first port of call for a bottle of wine, but there are high-class bottles to be had from its shores. Albariño is an aromatic variety, usually hailing from Galicia. Bouza has aged a portion in oak barrels, adding a creamy, spicy intensity to the variety’s naturally floral charms. This is an aperitif to savour, or would be lovely with gravadlax.

Customer Reviews

  1. Good value wine to drink young Review by David Summers

So often with wines from the new world, you expect them to be among the cheapest, and just simple glugging wine.

Bouza though, sells wines at what seems like a high price, for the unheard of (in the wine world) country of Uruguay.

Don't be fooled, these wines are all very good. The Tannat and the Albarino stand out among them though. The later is a wine full of flavour, that drinks well as soon as it arrives in the country. Have no idea how it ages, never kept a bottle that long .... (Posted on 20/01/2009)
