Product details

  • Variety

    Touriga Nacional
  • Jorge Roquette, owner of Quinta do Crasto and Jean-Michel Cazes, owner of Château Lynch-Bages, were already great friends; now they are associates making "Xisto" a great Portuguese wine produced on the Douro valley. Xisto (Pronounced "Shistoo") means schist in Portuguese. The wine combines the unique spicy character of the Douro with the finesse of a Cru Classé Bordeaux – a truly sublime combination. The wine has very deep (almost opaque) red colour and a nose of violets, cassis and black cherries. On the palate the Xisto is remarkably elegant with a classic balance of fine ripe tannins and intense mouth filling fruit. Although delicious now, the 2005 Xisto will age well for the next 10 to 15 years.
