Over the Andes in Chile, the Elqui Valley, to be precise, there are other Old World inspirations to the fore. Some of the grapes in Falernia Carmenère Syrah Reserva 2006 are dried, in the Amarone style, which makes for a more concentrated wine with a hint of sweetness. It is rich and opulently fruity, with blackcurrant, blueberries, dark chocolate and spicy, toasty oak notes.Mike Tipping The Press (Yorkshire) 20th February 2010

4 * Italy meets Chile: a third of the Carmenère grapes are dried in the Amarone style, filling out the palate with succulence. Expressive floral and leather notes, a powerful, peppery palate and a long, intense finish. The pre-desert, stony soils of the isolated Elqui Valley guarantee impressive, almost raisined ripeness.Decanter MagazineFebruary 2010

From Elqui Valley, Chile's new northern El Dorado which funnels cool air in from the Pacific, this is a cool climate, northern Rhône-like style, with smoky, tarry paripka–like aromas and a little more fruit opulence and rich blackberry fruit flavours than Crozes Hermitage, retaining nicely balanced supple tannins, bright freshness and spicy oak.www.thewinegang.com February 2009

Carmenere 60% Syrah 40% - 1/3 of the Carmenere is late harcest, capturing the 'Amarone style'. WINEMAKING: Grapes from 3 different vineyards of the Elqui Valley were hand picked, de-stemmed and crushed separately . The winemaking was as the same as the Syrah and the Carmenere. After aging in barrels and stainless steel the wines have been blended just 3 months before bottling.
