Schaetzel is a hugely respected name amongst Alsatian wine circles. Local lecturer in viticulture and pioneer of the region’s bio-dynamic and organic revolution, Jean Schaetzel, nephew of founder, Martin, has not only been responsible for nurturing the next generation of Alsatian winegrowers, but has also instilled in the region an environmentally sustainable approach to winemaking which will protect the land and the quality of its wines for generations to come.

His biodynamic and organic methods lend an impeccable balance, character and finesse to his wines. Though greatly admired at home, Jean’s wines are perhaps not quite as well known internationally, as a result perhaps of the unassuming and quiet nature of this exceptional and inspirational winemaker who doesn’t focus on marketing but quite literally lets his wines do the talking.
