Joël Durand’s skills as a vigneron and Eric’smeticulous winemaking approach result in wines with a purity and fidelity to their Cornas and St Joseph origins while displaying an ecstatic ambition that goes way beyond most of their peers. Eric ensures that the finished product retains the freshness, vibrancy and 'terroir' characteristics of the just-picked grapes, and this is indeed the effect you get when tasting the wines, even though there are subtle oak influences and very well-textured tannins. He achieves this through vigilance in monitoring his developing wines, but with minimum intervention. The amazing Cornas ‘Confidence’ represents the very pinnacle of the appellation. This wine is available by prearrival offer only, but to get an idea of the quality, try the superb and great value Cornas ‘Premices’ and Cornas ‘Empreintes’. The Saint- Joseph ‘Les Côteaux’ is one of the best wines from this appellation that we have tasted.
