The Dönnhoff family has built its wine estate over the last two centuries, gradually incorporating an impressive portfolio of top quality vineyards in the rocky landscape of the middle Nahe. Helmut Dönnhoff has not only been making the wine since 1971, but has continued to purchase top vineyard sites such as Kirschheck and Dellchen. Despite being from one of Germany's lesser-known regions, the wines have become some of the country's most sought-after, selling out straight after release. The popularity of Helmut's wines stems directly from his stellar winemaking capabilities. Even in difficult vintages, he succeeds in making wines with charm, balance, depth and typicity.
