If you are launching a boat this year, chances are you’ll mark the occasion with a bottle of bubbly. We tested a dozen, in a range from £10 to £180 and found some great value around £25. We assessed colour, mousse (bubbles), nose before sipping and (mostly) spitting. As well as the inherent qualities of each bottle, scored out of 10 (with the aggregate mark shown here) we tried to evaluate its suitability for a boat launch party (sunny day, friends, etc). Five of the 12 brands we tested rated well in this respect, and are flagged accordingly.
