Trinity Hill
Hawkes Bay
Situated on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Trinity Hill is a partnership between John Hancock, Robert and Robyn Wilson (owners of London’s Bleeding Heart and The Don restaurants) and Aucklanders Trevor and Hanne Janes. Three founding partners, hence the name “Trinity Hill”. Highly regarded for his all round abilities in both the cellar and vineyard, John Hancock has extensive experience in Australia, France and New Zealand. He is also held in high esteem as a wine judge, constantly included in local as well as international tasting panels, assisting in the cellar is Warren Gibson, who too has a wealth of experience internationally, with vintages in California, Burgundy, Italy and Hungary. The idea for the winery first came about in 1987 when a shared passion for New Zealand wine between the three families was realized. But it was not until 1993 that the first block of land was purchased – 20 hectares of prime grape-growing land in the Gimblett Road area of Hawke’s Bay. The first barrel-aged Gimblett Road wines were released in 1998 to critical acclaim and a number of gold medals and trophies. Since then, the winery and full winemaking facilities have been built and many more awards have been won.
