Product details

  • Souson is known for its bracing acidity which is smoothed off here with judicious use of oak – around 4 months in barrel. It’s vividly fruity – with plum skin, blueberry, cherry and raspberry. Incredibly fresh and a great red for the Spring!

Vivacious red made from the rare Souson grape, brimming with red plum and raspberry. Crack this one open with roast pork.

Susy AtkinsDelicious Magazine - April 2017

Based around the local Souson grape, this is deeply coloured with figgy fruits and fairly dense texture. It’s relatively full-bodied for chilling, but it works thanks to the snappy acidity, clarity of plum and blueberry flavour and crunchy tannin.

Matt Walls - "25 Best Reds for Summer Chilling"Decanter Magazine, July 2017

MATCHED WITH PETIT COQ, NAKED SLAW AND SWEETCORN - This must be the recipe with the most innuendo I’ve ever seen, hot, spiced up, with a riot of explosive flavours tingling the taste buds. This calls for a ripe, juicy, vibrant red, with minimal tannins, and a fresh, sassy character. Try the little known Souson Ailala Ribeiro do Avia from north west Spain, which brims over with bright, fruity, red berry character, yet with a velvety softness, which will cope with the highly seasoned flavours of this bold dish.
