Glen Carlou

Paarl

The Glen Carlou farm is situated on the Northern slopes of the Simonsberg mountain (the opposite face to Stellenbosch), within the Paarl district and is widely recognised as one of the best producers of wine within the Paarl region. Walter Finlayson bought the land in 1985, renaming the estate ‘Glen Carlou’ as a tribute to his Scottish ancestry and subsequently his so, David, took over. Early in 2009 winemaking responsibility was passed to Arco Laarman who says "To me winemaking is not only a career, it’s a lifestyle. As a young winemaker I find the opportunity of being a member of one of the country’s top cellar teams highly exciting and challenging." The small 125 hectare farm is planted 50/50 red and white with a focus on the noble varieties Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon.
