South Africa

South Africa is one of the world’s most exciting wine-producing countries. It is a land designed for grape growing, from the jagged mountainous coast to the rich, fertile inland river plains, which teem with wildlife, fruit and flower plantations. Its warm climate is cooled by sea breezes from the Atlantic and Indian oceans on either side resulting in a climatic range fit to accommodate the ripening needs of vines as diverse as Grenache to Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.

South Africa’s winemakers constantly inspire us with their enthusiasm and innovation and efforts to support the country’s numerous empowerment projects, which educate, house and employ disadvantaged communities and make wine a unifying project for the nation.

The diversity in terms of people and topography is reflected in wine style. There you can find Cabernet Sauvignon of ‘Super-Second’ Claret quality rubbing shoulders with the world’s finest Chenin Blanc, or a Shiraz of Hermitage-like proportions. A range which is as varied in style as it is consistent in scintillating quality.
