Cariñena

Situated 56km south east of Zaragoza, in the Ibérica mountain range between the Campo de Cariñena Valley and the Ebro river, Cariñena is one of the oldest DO in Spain, with a long and prosperous viticultural tradition. This is arid country, with an annual rainfall of just 350mm.The vineyards, which are populated in the main with old bush vines, are planted at 400 – 800m above sea level.  Garnacha, the indigenous Cariñena (or Carignan as it has become known in other parts of the world) and Tempranillo are the main varieties, with a little Viura.

Made from some of the highest vineyards and made at the beautiful old winery of San Nicolas de Tolentino in the foothills of the mountains of Suerra de Algairén and Serralón, these wines represent fabulous value.
