  • An elegant bouquet of fresh pears, citrus and white fleshed stone-fruit characters with underlying hints of oatmeal, nougat and roasted almonds. The palate is full bodied offering ample nectarines, pears and zesty lemony flavours. There is a lovely complexity with a creamy texture derived from lees stirring and grilled nuts in the background; the taught mineral structure, bright fruit and crisp acidity combine to focus the wine perfectly to a dry, persistent fruit finish.

With forty percent of fruit sourced from estate vineyards, twenty percent under-goes natural fermentation and no malolactic fermentation "in order to allow the personality of the site to come through." The result certainly expresses the philosophy, as a Chardonnay built on the vibrancy of primary fruit. It has flavours of grapefruit, white peach, nougat and lemon, in a pure, restrained style with very subtle cashew nut oak propelling the fruit. With excellent length and line and well-balanced acidity, this is a beautifully crafted wine which makes for refreshing drinking now and will develop well for some years. 94 points.

Food recommendation

A very versatile wine, pairing well with chicken and other poultry, and pork dishes, especially with an apple sauce. The ripe fruit pairs well with spicy food too; try it with a prawn curry in a creamy, spicy sauce.
