Aromatic nose with hints of vanilla and aromas of candied yellow fruits, apricot and honey. Mellow, ripe and fresh in the mouth. An outstanding Barsac.
This is the second wine of Château Climens, known as 'the Yquem of Barsac' - with justification, as this is one of the very best châteaux in all of Sauternes and Barsac.

After manual harvesting, the grapes from different parcels are vinified separately. Pumping over and maceration depend on the tasting of each tank. Blending is done at the end of winter. Then the wine is matured in oak barrels and bottled after 10 to 12 months.
Harvesting at Climens is extremely delicate. An experienced team sorts out and gathers only the grapes affected by the famous Botrytis Cinerea, the noble rotting. Wine processing is done in barrels in order to intensify each batch’s complexity and balance before proceeding to a very meticulous combination. Maturing goes on for 18 months in barrels renewed by 35 to 60% each vintage.
90/100 - The 2014 Cyprès de Climens has a more resinous, almost Germanic bouquet compared to its peers, touches of smoke and nutmeg filtered through the honeyed fruit. The palate is rich and viscous on the entry, a keen thread of acidity, lightly spiced with quite a persistent finish. Always one of the finest deuixème vin from Barsac, this is no different. Drink 2018-2030.

17/20 - Tasted blind. Rich and broad. Pungent and exciting. Positively burnished. Surely wrongly promoted as an aperitif wine. Drink 2017-2030.
