  • Summer BBQ's

"Wow, this is a posh BBQ" my flat mate exclaimed. But he didn't mean the small, foiled, disposable BBQ smouldering away in the corner of our garden or even the fantastic pork, fennel and chilli sausages and lamb burgers sourced from our local butcher. We had taken the opportunity, like many, to get outside and make the most of the summer. But I felt like celebrating the fact we could sit outside well into the night clad in only flip-flops, shorts and a shirt.

  • Chilled Red? Yes please.

Domaine de Belle Mare, Les Granges de Felines, Grenache Merlot 2012

It's like being in the South of France at the moment! Hot, hot and hot. My wine of the week is from that glorious area and is a light fruity red that be served slightly chilled! Yes, get this in the fridge. It makes this perfect summer refreshment as well as a great match for ‘Al’ Fresco dining.

  • This grape is just too good in hot weather to ignore!

Domaine Roquemolière, Picpoul de Pinet 2012

The second time I've picked Picpoul for my "wine of the week" in a month, but this grape is just too good in hot weather to ignore! The Languedoc’s answer to Muscadet. Crisp, dry, refreshing. Partners very well with seafood dishes. I highly recommend this wine, with hints of lychee on the nose, really fresh and clean on the palate, and just perfect when the temperature (outside) rises.

  • Holburne Museum - Dorothy House

A great night was had by all last Thursday when we hosted our annual event in aid of Dorothy House.

This year the event was held in the beautiful cafe of the Holburne Museum. 110 people turned up to taste the delicious array of 30 summer drinking wines that were on offer.

Wines that particularly stood out was the Argentinean delight, Vistalba Corte C and also the Gruner Veltliner from Yealands Estate, New Zealand.

We are thrilled to announce that through ticket proceeds and sales on the evening we raised an amazing £1288 for Dorothy House.

A big thank you to all who helped and attended to make this a wonderful event.

  • Our Tour de France takes is to Faugeres

Domaine des Prés Lasses Faugeres 2010

Boris Feigel’s wonderful Faugeres is always held aloft on our Tour de France winners rostrum. Soft, spicy red fruit with Southern French herbs gives this wine a real sense of place. 2010 was an outstanding vintage too, so this wine has the power to go all the way.
