Central Valley

Stretching over 400km from the Maipo Valley to the Maule Valley, this is Chile's most productive and internationally known wine region. Due to its vastness, a huge array of wine styles can be found here, the broad range of climactic conditions and soils created a multitude of terroirs. These range from Bordeaux-style wines from the north, to more traditional styles from the south. Plantings are dominated by the universally popular Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes, although Carmenere - Chile's 'icon' grape - is also of importance.
