Burgundy

The thing that Burgundy epitomizes, more than any other wine region, is what the French call 'terroir', or the precise expression of a particular place in the wine that comes from it.

A refreshing change from big brands and mass-production! Burgundy's best grower-winemakers see their role as crafting wines that are delicious to drink while giving the drinker a true sense of their origin. When made well, Burgundy represents the very best that Pinot Noir and Chardonnay can be, with exquisite finesse and complexity. We buy only from individual producers, despite the small quantities available, because we believe that these tiny estates most ably display the character of this intriguing region.

2008  Excellent medium-term drinking - reds have fresh, crunchy, spicy fruit and bright acidity. Whites have similar acidity, balancing succulent fruit and rounded texture

2007  A soft, succulent vintage for reds, while whites show vivid freshness and minerality.
