Tasting Note

Beautiful bottle aged Muscadet, made from 55 year old vines and benefitting from extended underground cellaring on its lees. It's then bottled without fining or filtration, resulting in a complex rich and mineral style. Given it's age this stunning wine is still beautifully clear and bright - and has a wonderful bouquet of white flowers, citrus fruits, pear and a mineral edge. It's bone-dry and zesty with plenty of fruit on the palate and a brisk, fresh finish. The ultimate seafood wine - serve chilled with oysters, mussels or barbecued prawns. Also has the weight to partner lobster.

Food Recommendation

The ultimate seafood wine - serve chilled with oysters, mussels or barbecued prawns.

Press

  • High-toned, smoky nose, while the palate has freshness and zip with creamy peach and pear fruit kept in check by fresh acidity and a firm, mineral bit. Drink 2017-2026. 91/100.

    • Decanter Panel Tasting – Muscadet – Highly Recommended.
  • One of the more expensive wines in their collection, Jérémie Huchet/Dom de la Chauvinière/Ch Thébaud, Granit 2010 Muscadet-Sevre et Maine, is also stunning and also soil-specific (guess which?). It has benefited from six years in bottle and taken on far more flavour than the price suggests even if it is quite different in style from the simple, youthful, transparent juiciness of the Bonnets' young wine.
My tasting note: 'Still full of grip albeit with a slightly aged waxiness to it. Admirable proof of Muscadet's ageability. But still fresh and exremely appetising and juicy, with some saltiness. Great stuff and only 12%! VGV (only £14).'
