Despite being a well-known brand, Bollinger remains fiercely independent and familyowned and managed. Unlike many houses, Bollinger is a large vineyard owner - over 60% of its wines come from its own vineyards.

Uniquely, Bollinger's reserve wines for blending into the non-vintage Cuvée Speciale, are aged for 5-10 years in magnums, instead of in vats or casks. This adds to the complexity of the final blend, and means that at any given time, Bollinger's blenders have at their disposal a colossal library of over 300,000 magnums of reserve wines.
