This exceptional estate, situated at the heart of the best sites in Fuissé, was founded in 1840 by Jeanne Ferret:  a remarkable lady who recognised the impact of ‘terroir’ on the finished wine. To ensure that the quality and distinctiveness of what the Domaine produced was preserved for the consumer to appreciate, she insisted on estate-bottling the wine – not a common practice at the time. Jeanne was succeeded by her daughter, Colette, who built on her mother’s reputation for quality. Although the property was acquired in 2008 by Jadot, it is still run separately, and true to tradition, the wines are now made by another lady, Audrey Braccini. They show an exciting, nervy tension that is rare in Pouilly-Fuissé, and come very highly recommended.
