Mesquida Mora

There are documents which relate the Mesquida family to the production of wine from as far back as the 16th century although the current winery was founded by Barbara and Jaume's great grandfather in 1945. For years wine was sold to local farmers who would use it to replenish their strength after a hard day’s work.

His son of the same name continued making wines and began bottling and delivering them to his customers. Then Jaume Mesquida Oliver, Barbara and Jaume's father, was the first member of the family to officially study oenology and viticulture. Amongst other things, by planting new varieties of grape and by bringing the first ever stainless steel storage tank to the island, Jaume Mesquida contributed to the renaissance of wine in the Balearics.

Barbara and Jaume Mesquida Mora took over the running of the estate in 2004 and became the 4th generation of this family project, enthusiastic to continue innovating within the world of Mallorcan oenology. The Jaume Mesquida winery wants to achieve vines that are in rich and complex ecosystems that can protect and regenerate themselves. The Mesquidas are passionate about reducing the negative impact of the environment. They have completely eliminated the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers and replacing them with homeopathic remedies. Now Certified Biodynamic.
