Omero

Oregon

“For us it’s about Oregon first and foremost. We aren’t trying to replicate Burgundy; we are aiming to represent Oregon. Our soils are unique, our climate is unique, our fruit is unique and we are unique.” David Moore – vineyard manager.

In 2008 David Moore bought their first ton of grapes, made their first wine and has’t looked back. In the same year, inspired by the zeal and dedication of David, his parents founded Omero Cellars in the heart of the Northern Willamette Valley’s Ribbon Ridge AVA. A slightly warmer climate than the rest of the Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge is provided with ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, with long growing season and perfect ripening for the grapes. The sedimentary soils are part of the Willakenzie soil series which are known for low fertility and excellent drainage, both important factors in growing world class Pinot Noir.

The vineyard itself, which was planted in 2009, is mostly South, Southwest and Southeast facing at elevations of 350 to 550 ft. above sea level. 9 hectares are planted to the Pinot Noir clones of Pommard, Wädenswil, Dijon 113, 114 and 115.
