Lombardia / Veneto

Ottella is one of the oldest wine estates in Lugana, located at the southern end of Lake Garda, and benefiting from both the lake's moderating influence on the climate and soils derived from glacial moraine.

Lugana's unique vine variety, Trebbiano di Lugana, is thought to be in fact more closely-related to Verdicchio than it is to other Italian varieties known as Trebbiano.  Also known locally as 'Turbiana', in combination with the lake-influenced climate and soils, it produces fabulously pure and nuanced white wine.

The Montresor family also produces sensational red wines from high-altitude (400m-600m) vineyards in Valpolicella - the Ripasso and Amarone are some of the finest we have tasted, and are well worth seeking out.
