Viña Falernia

Elqui Valley

Founded in 1997 by Aldo Olivier Gramola and his cousin, Giorgio Flessati, a seasoned winemaker from Italy's Trentino region, Viña Falernia is located in the Elqui Valley, 470km to the north of Santiago and just south of the Atacama Desert.

Its 320 hectares are spread over three vineyard sites:  20km from the Pacific, at 350m altitude, Titon Vineyard produces superb Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the multiple award-winning Syrah Gran Reserva.  The second site is 40km inland and surrounds the winery:  at an elevation of 500m, the climate here is substantially drier.  Lastly, Huente is at a staggering 2000m above sea level, qualifying it as one of the world's highest vineyards.

The winery is completely insulated and equipped with state of the art technology.  Underground cellars for barrel ageing complete the set, along with the latest bottling plant facility.  Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Carmenère are all of world-beating quality as their regular successes in wine competitions and publications confirm.

"Over the next 10 years, world-class wines will emerge from these areas. If I had a few spare quid I'd invest them in a vineyard in Elquí tomorrow."  — Tim Atkin
