Western Cape

South Africa's Western Cape is the uncontested home of the majority of the country's wine industry, spanning over 600km of vineyards that cover granite mountains, hidden valleys and lush, inland farms. The huge range of climates, soils and altitudes that make up the region are conducive to almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to wine styles, and the combined influences of both New and Old World planters are evident across the whole region. In past years, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage have risen to become the Western Cape's signature varietals, although there remains an outpouring of a number of other quality varietal expressions, ranging from Sauvignon Blancs to Cabernet Sauvignons.
