Tasting Note

With lashings of passion fruit, this is the Pornstar Martini of the Sauvignon Blanc line up. The grapes for this wine are picked from two parcels of fruit from Yealands’ Seaview Vineyard, where Sauvignon Blanc vines are grown on New Zealand’s most coastal vineyard. The vineyard is exposed to some of the toughest growing conditions in Marlborough: high sunshine and wind, cool nights and low rainfall which produces a smaller, thicker-skinned berry with intense fruit flavours. This wine is a blend of fruit from two different blocks on the property – one warmer, sheltered inland block and a coastal block. The wine brings together in harmony the diverse spectrums of the blocks; the warmer site contributing the expressive aromatics and the cooler site giving the mineral backbone and length. According to the winery, vital to their success is the nurturing and preservation of the land and their solid commitment always to put in just as much as they take out.

Winemaking

Yealands Sauvignon Blanc is selected from two parcels of fruit from Yealand's Seaview Vineyard, where Sauvignon Blanc vines are grown on New Zealand’s most coastal vineyard. The vines are exposed to some of the toughest growing conditions in the country; Low rainfall, high sunshine, cool nights and strong winds. And the result is a smaller, fuller, thicker-skinned berry and lower yielding vines which create a style of intense purity, focus and complexity and with wonderfully rich flavour. Thinking differently is fundamental to Yealands. Crafting award-winning Sauvignon Blancs in harmony with nature has seen Yealands lead the world in sustainable winegrowing and creating top Sauvignon Blanc releases. But most importantly, it means great tasting wines which don’t cost the earth. And the very latest 2015 is the most thrilling yet capturing the very finest in beautifully fresh, structured, prickly, Sauvignon Blanc flavour. Is Vegetarian and vegan.

Food Recommendation

An amazing match with goats cheese salad, poultry dishes and seafood dishes such as freshly shucked oysters, prawns, green lip mussels and creamy scallops.

  • Best Sauvignon Blanc I've ever tasted !

It's the freshness, and with such balance and finesse that sets this apart from everything else, for me and my foodie mate. We were both shocked when we first tasted it. Quite a basket of citrus flavours by the bucket-load, but all balanced and controlled with a great finish, and very, very clean. Going to buy some more NOW !! The best, at any price. Period. The End.
